About Compa Sicily

Compà was born in our dreams even before we moved to the UK. In the three years leading up to our move, we gathered, through our memories and those of our parents, the family recipes passed down from our grandmothers. We spent that time perfecting those recipes and making them our own, with the goal of sharing the flavours of simple, tasty food in a warm and familiar environment just like that of a true Sicilian family. Through food, colours, and flavours, we want to spread our culture, which is too often reduced to sad stereotypes.

Even the name “Compà” comes from our desire to let our guests know that they’re not strangers, but become part of our family like the dearest of friends in an atmosphere that makes you feel at home, with all its imperfections, but with the desire to be together, just like in a real family. And so Compà was born in 2022!

In Sicily, Massimo was an electrician with a thriving business, and I was an image consultant in a major luxury department store in Italy. But at a certain point, we decided to follow our dreams and set off for a land we had loved since our very first trip.

Today, we are British citizens as well as Italian because we live our emotions to the fullest, and we feel part of this country that welcomed us with a warm embrace.

Yes, we miss Sicily, but we always carry it in our hearts. We are passing down to our children the traditions of our homeland and the art of authentic, simple cooking full of flavour and passion.

From the Press

1

"Stepping into Compà is like being whisked away to Sicily, bursting with colour, passion and authentic flavours."

2

"Forced to eat so much Italian food that you practically rolled out the door by the end of it. But, of course, we were only happy to oblige."

3

"A lot of chain Italian restaurants can be very predictable with their offerings so it’s fantastic so have an independent place in Beeston offering regional dishes for those wanting to try something a little difference. "
